| Making
full use of the wealth of Rotary experience existing in the club,
respect for tradition and practices and whether we sometimes spread
ourselves to thin were matters which had occupied some thought in
the planning for the year ahead. Consideration also to being flexible
and spontaneous, hence a wish not to pre plan the whole year, albeit
it would include established events such as the Golf Day and Alton
Water Challenge. A desire to generate excitement / energy in what
we do and to fully engage all our new members.
A few less external speakers to provide not only for greater fellowship
opportunities but also to discussion / dissemination of information
at club meetings. Keenness to support the projects of Rotary International
and RIBI not least the latter who have identified The Institute
of Cancer Research, Barnardos, The Wheelchair Foundation and Impact
Trust. Not forgetting to strongly support our own Foundation charity.
Also to support local charities which we had supported in the past
like Arthritic Care and to raise our profile in the community to
support generation of new members.
To facilitate this, a structure geared to providing adequate resources
to the committees for Community, Foundation, International and Vocational.
Strong committees with a desire to see full reporting to Business
Meetings throughout the coming year to provide for good communication.
A wish also to evaluate the club having a leadership plan to aid
progression and continuity.
Now handover has passed...............
My sincere thanks to every single member who has taken (or continues
in) office or has already undertaken to perform tasks in the 2006/2007
year, not least to Alan Page on stepping up to SVP. There will be
plenty more tasks and opportunities to share around, let us (and
not least me) not forget that in our club as in Rotary 'no one has
greater value'.
